Shibori (絞り) is the term for several methods of resist-dyeing used to create a pattern by binding, folding, twisting, and compressing. It originates in 8th century Japan and is derived from the root, shiboru (to wring, squeeze, or press).

Arashi (嵐), meaning "storm" or "tempest," is the shibori technique of wrapping a textile around a pole before binding the material in twine or sinew.

Each piece of rope was hand bound with sinew, then dipped in natural indigo dye (indigofera tinctoria), and allowed to oxidize in the open air, resulting in the storm-water pattern seen in the strands.

Pictured are the bundles for the two available kits.

Each kit includes 2 (two) 8 meter lengths and 1 (one) 4 meter length for 3 (three) total pieces per kit.

By nature of the dying process, each bundle is unique and cannot be reproduced.
